Quote from Yohji Yamamoto

I really want to quote what Yohji said about the back, in his book, "Making Garment: Damage Fashion", he says, " When the body moves forward, the back shows and leaves its stunning silhouette, a loveliness garment left its back to show the whole meaning for only few seconds, the moment of this stunning is amazing, just like the girl who is preparing to leave, sad but beautiful"(Yohji Yamamoto). I think not only the front can present garment's charming but also the back can show limitless design.

Thoughts on feminism

Everyone is talking about "Feminism", but we really need to do a lot more things on that. In "the Handmaid's Tale", It roughly talks about women lose their right again, and how they are treated badly. A lot of people think this won't happen to themselves, or this won't happen in recent society. However, some place in this world, there are still inequity happened to female.

Research on Buddhism

It is really funny that many people have been misappropriating that all buddhists are vegans, but that is not the fact. In buddhism, all the buddhists are treated by other people who want to help them. I did some research on how one of the Ten Rules talks about being vegans. It says that as long as you don't see, smell, know the meat from people who gave you, you can eat it. I think from this point, It is pretty obvious that reflects how people misunderstand the concept of being a vegan to obscure the culture of buddhism.

Polytheism - religion - Caodaism - Islamism - Christians - Voodooism

We start with thinking about the things that represent its worship or ritual such as persian rug for Islamism, window for Christians, Voodoo doll for voodooism. Each religion has its own totem to represent strong belief, we come up with an idea about making a totem pole that each parts stands for different religion and connect to each other to represent the polytheism part, because we think in this world there is already much religion exists at the same time, it seems like a conflict but actually relates, and that is obscure.

Thoughts on this artwork

After I finished my "Traditional Dress" project, I found out I really wanted to focus on the feminine aspect on my work. From my research, traditional tennis suit dress reflects a lot about how women try hard to get equality. In the pass, women can't participate the Olympic games, even they get to take part in the game, no one admitted their score. However, they never stopped trying to fight for their right. One of the greatest tennis player, Suzanne Lenglen, she was the first lady who broke the old rules in the tennis world. She get rid of the tight corset, and she made the long puff sleeve into short sleeve. Also, she wore the over knee pleated skirt with socking instead of long floored dresses. This style of look made her become a sign on the history of the tennis world. Even though there are some tennis fans called her "French slut", that can't stop her to get great score to prove the women power

Tennis, Traditional Dress

I really like how those ladies in long floored dress moving in the tennis court, the movement and the cross line on the tennis net create a texture.

Research on "Dress" Project

what I found a traditional dress can be a old fashion tennis dress suit, it is interesting that how the ladies in 1900s played tennis in those long floored dress, and to give all the light movement. However, at the same time, tennis is quite intense.

"VOODOO" by Henning Christoph - Hans Oberlander

This picture giving me a feel of obscurity because the voodooist is behind the mesh, it seems mysterious. I know what voodooism is, it reminds me of voodoo doll and sacrifice, but maybe that's not the origin of voodooism. There are more things that I definitely need to discover.

Caodaism

Caodaism, a religion that combine with Buddhism, Christians and Islamic which our group think that is interesting because it reveals polytheism and obscurity.

For the first idea that our group has come out, we are focusing on religion such as buddhism and christians to give a idea about conflict between to each other. However, there are still some connections to religion such as totem to represent strong belief to it. That's why polytheism exists.
